Google Workspace pricing, explained

By the Google Migrations team · Updated · 3 min read

Google Workspace is priced per user per month. As of October 2026, Business Starter is $7, Business Standard is $14, and Business Plus is $22 on an annual plan. Flexible monthly plans cost about 20 percent more. Your total depends on the edition, the billing plan, how many people need accounts, and any taxes that apply.

How much does each Google Workspace edition cost?

Each Business edition has a fixed price per user per month, with a lower rate on the annual plan. These are list prices as of October 2026:

EditionAnnual planFlexible plan
Business Starter$7$8.40
Business Standard$14$16.80
Business Plus$22$26.40

Business editions are capped at 300 users. Enterprise editions have no such cap, and their pricing is quoted by Google or a partner rather than listed here. For the bigger picture on choosing an edition, start with our Google Workspace plans and licensing guide.

What is included in the price?

The per-user price includes the full set of core apps and an account in the Admin console. Every Business edition gives your team:

  • Gmail on your own domain, with Calendar, Contacts, and Chat.
  • Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms.
  • Google Meet for video calls, with participant limits that rise by edition.
  • Pooled storage: 30 GB per user on Starter, 2 TB on Standard, and 5 TB on Plus.
  • Admin controls for users, devices, and security settings such as 2-Step Verification.
  • Google's data migration service in the Admin console for basic email moves.

Business Plus also adds Google Vault for retention and eDiscovery. Gemini now comes included in the core Workspace editions at no extra cost, and what varies is how much of it you get: Starter covers Gemini in Gmail and the Gemini app, while Standard and above add Gemini across the Workspace apps plus NotebookLM Plus. Feature lists change, so check Google's current comparison before you buy.

What adds to your total bill?

Your total bill grows with headcount, edition, billing plan, and a few extras. The main factors are:

  • Number of users. Each person who signs in needs a license.
  • Edition. Moving up an edition raises the price for every user on it.
  • Billing plan. Flexible costs about 20 percent more than annual in exchange for no commitment.
  • Taxes. Sales tax or VAT is added where it applies.
  • Add-ons. Some Google products, such as Google Voice, are billed separately.
  • Migration and support services. These are separate from license costs, whether you use a partner or do it yourself.

Shared inboxes, aliases, and Google Groups do not need their own licenses. That alone can lower your count compared with your current system. Our guide to right-sizing your licenses shows where to look.

How do you estimate your monthly cost?

You estimate your monthly cost by multiplying your licensed user count by the per-user price for your edition and plan. Work through it in order:

  1. List everyone who needs to sign in, including part-time staff and contractors who need email.
  2. Remove shared mailboxes that can become Google Groups.
  3. Pick an edition based on storage, meeting, and retention needs.
  4. Pick annual or Flexible billing.
  5. Multiply. For example, 20 users on Business Standard with an annual plan cost 20 times $14 per month, before tax.

If you expect headcount to change during the migration, read annual vs Flexible plans before you commit. If storage is the deciding factor, see Business Starter vs Business Standard.

Does Google Workspace cost less than Microsoft 365?

Whether Google Workspace costs less than Microsoft 365 depends on what you pay Microsoft today and which features you actually use. Do not rely on published price lists for the comparison. Pull your current Microsoft invoice, note every license and add-on, and match each one to the Google edition your team would need.

Our guide to comparing the cost of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace walks through that side-by-side, including costs people often miss, such as third-party archiving or meeting tools you may no longer need.

Frequently asked questions

Do Google Workspace prices include tax?

No. The listed prices are per user per month before tax. Sales tax or VAT is added based on your billing address and local rules. If you buy through a partner, your invoice shows tax as a separate line, so you can see the license cost on its own.

Can Google change Google Workspace prices?

Yes. Google adjusts prices from time to time, and changes usually apply at renewal for annual plans and sooner for Flexible plans. The prices on this page are current as of October 2026. Always confirm the current rate before you budget for the year.
